POP 31 - " End of the Millennium Trophy"
Partizan reached its seventh trophy in the national cup in a season that started turbulently. Namely, after bad results in the preparatory transition, right before the start of the competition in the 1999/2000 season, Nenad Trajković, a long-time coach of the younger categories of Partizan and occasional assistant in work with the first team, sat on the bench instead of Vladislav Lučić.
The coach responsible for the progress and development of many who went through Partizan's basketball school, did not have an ideal situation, since the black and whites were without important players during the transition period - Dejan Tomašević, Haris Brkić, Dragan Lukovski, Zoran Stevanović and Aleksandar Gilić. With minimal investments, Partizan built a team in which the most famous players were natives Miroslav Radošević (new captain), Aleksandar Čubrilo and Vladimir Đokić. The former black and white junior, Nenad Čanak, returned to the team, Dragan Marković arrived with him from Spartak Subotica, and Boris Raičević was brought from Radnički to help Ratko Varda in the central positions. The team was completed by the arrival of the best defender of the domestic league, Veselin Petrović.
The National Cup trophy was won at the final tournament in Leskovac, where Partizan won two convincing victories - in the semi-final against FMP Železnik 88:70 (Čanak 20, Marković 15, Radošević 14, Petrović 11) and in the final against the host Zdravlj 79:66 (Petrović 16, Radošević 11, Čubrilo 11), came to a well-deserved celebration.
